Get Fit and Beat the Winter Blahs!
Recreational and competitive rowing programs will energize 6th-12th grade youth this winter at Delta Sculling Center (starting Nov 6th). And newcomers are welcome! Fitness and endurance development on rowing machines, flexibility and strength training through yoga (with Tina Zook), resistance strength training, and fun activities with new friends will be woven together each week. Fine tuning of on-the-water rowing skills on Saturday mornings will be scheduled all winter for competitive rowers. When late afternoon light increases in January, sculling on the water will also return for all participants. Virtual and live indoor rowing championships in January and February will be incentives to work toward. Click here for details.
We Offer Three Youth Programs throughout the Academic Year . . .
Recreational Team- The recreational team comprises girls and boys in grades 8-12. Our rec program is designed for those who are new to rowing (novices). This program focuses on teaching the basics of the rowing stroke and fostering a positive team environment where all athletes are included.
Developmental Team - The developmental team is made up of girls and boys in grades 8-12. Our developmental program is designed for more experienced scullers and those who want to enjoy the water without the pressure of training for competition.
Competitive Team - The competitive team consists of girls and boys in grades 8-12. We train to compete in both water and land races, including the Southwest Regional Championships. This team is open to all high school-aged athletes with one or more seasons of rowing experience, as well as exceptional eighth graders.

Youth Sample Sculling
These free one-day sessions are designed to provide a no-pressure introduction to sculling for young people who have never tried our sport before.
Learn the basics of the stroke on the rowing machine and gain familiarity with our equipment before transitioning into a boat. On the water, all participants will have one-on-one attention from coaches and can either stay connected to the dock or venture out on the river, based on their level of comfort.
Lessons are open to all youth in the Central Valley entering 6th-12th grade in the upcoming academic year. We have multiple dates and times available to work with a variety of schedules.
