Youth Programs
DSC offers four Youth Programs that take place during the school year.

1. Recreational Team- The recreational team meets three days per week and is composed of girls and boys in grades 8-12. Our rec program is designed for those who are newer to rowing (novices). This program focuses on teaching the basics of the rowing stroke and fostering a positive team environment where all athletes are included.

2. Developmental Team - The developmental team meets three days per week and is composed of girls and boys in grades 8-12. Our developmental program is designed for more experienced scullers and experienced scullers who want to enjoy the water without the pressure of training for competition.

3. Competitive Team - The competitive team meets five days per week and is composed of girls and boys in grades 8-12. We train to compete in both water and land races, including the Southwest Regional Championships. This team is open to all high school age athletes with one or more seasons of rowing experience, and exceptional eighth graders.

4. Erg Ed® - A classroom-based indoor rowing education program started by the Pocock Foundation. Erg Ed® runs in eleven public school districts across the country and serves more than 20,000 students a year. Please see below for upcoming lessons and Learn-to-Scull training sessions.
Youth Sample Sculling
These free one-day sessions are designed to provide a no-pressure introduction to sculling for young people who have never tried our sport before.
Learn the basics of the stroke on the rowing machine and gain familiarity with our equipment before transitioning into a boat. On the water, all participants will have one-on-one attention from coaches and can either stay connected to the dock or venture out on the river, based on their level of comfort.
Lessons are open to all youth in the Central Valley entering 6th-12th grade in the upcoming academic year. We have multiple dates and times available to work with a variety of schedules.
