ABOUT ERG ED
Erg Ed® is a classroom-based indoor rowing education program of the Pocock Foundation running in eleven public school districts across the country and serving more than 20,000 students a year.
Erg Ed® started in 2010 as an integrated component of Seattle Public Schools “Five for Life” physical education curriculum. In 2015, USRowing partnered with the Pocock Foundation to expand Erg Ed nationwide to Memphis, TN, Allentown, PA, Portland, OR, Chicago, IL, Ann Arbor, MI, Stockton, CA, San Diego, CA, Everett, WA, and Los Angeles, CA. The Pocock Foundation also has grown to Renton, WA, Bothell, WA, Woodinville, WA, and Kenmore, WA, and through a partnership with Oakland Strokes Rowing Club, also offers Erg Ed® in Oakland, CA.
Erg Ed® brings equipment (indoor rowing machines – ergs), technology, curriculum, and training to middle and high school physical education classes so that teachers and students can access rowing without ever leaving the classroom. Through Erg Ed®, students learn basic rowing skills, exercise intensity, goal setting, and teamwork in a fun, highly engaging curriculum.
