Chispita Matching Grant Challenge is ON!
HURRY! Deadline for donations is Dec 31, 2017!
Delta, Sculling, Center, Stockton, Delta Sculling Center,
In the holiday spirit of gifting, please consider donating to Delta Sculling Center, which does so much with so little to serve so many who are sometimes overlooked. We would appreciate your donation, no matter the amount!
DSC has been challenged by a matching grant from the Chispita Fund, a donor-advised fund of the Community Foundation of San Joaquin. This fund has offered a $5,000 challenge grant to raise funds for Delta Sculling Center/EveryBODY Sculls. Our coach/founder and her husband are adding another $500 to the Challenge, increasing the total challenge grant to $5,500. So for every monetary donation given to Delta Sculling Center between now and December 31, 2017, Chispita and Oprandy/Tirone will match the donation dollar for dollar up to a total of $5,500. Delta Sculling Center is a 501(c)(3), so your donations are tax-deductible. And with this challenge, Delta Sculling stands to make $11,000 between now and the end of the year!
Your donations to the Chispita Challenge Grant will provide funds to support Delta Sculling Center’s mission to teach sculling to athletes of all abilities. DSC’s OarBusters program uses adaptive equipment to help athletes with physical challenges get on the water. DSC’s Freedom Rows program, one of 25 across the country, brings the benefits of the sport to military veterans. In recent months DSC has expanded its focus toward the development of GIrls-Row Stockton, which will introduce rowing to young female athletes, especially those in under-resourced areas of our community. Since this program is just getting off the ground, we really need all the support we can garner as we are committed to including young women who may not have the financial means to participate.
Our Freedom Rows program is considered a premier example of how to meet the needs of veterans and DSC is seen as a role model in bringing diversity and inclusion to the sport. This respect in the rowing community is testimony to the hard hands-on commitment of 13 volunteers every Tuesday and Thursday morning working with OarBusters and our Freedom Rows athletes.
As you can see, Delta Sculling Center provides access to our beautiful Delta waterways for EveryBODY – those with physical, sensory, cognitive and emotional challenges. Our volunteers are passionate and committed to achieving this but we rely on the financial support of our donors.
Whether you are able to donate $10 or $100 or $1,000 or $100,000... your donation means a great deal to Delta Sculling Center. It is through our community of donors that we will be able to continue to reach more individuals and offer both the physical benefits as well as the emotional, cognitive and spiritual
benefits of sculling – whether for the those with disabilities or for those
who are able-bodied, whether on land or on the water. Your donation helps us in a variety of ways. It can provide programming and equipment for disabled and able-bodied scullers. It can help send adaptive rowers to competitive
events at distant locations and it can
subsidize programming fees for those unable to afford them.
If you would like to donate to a specific program, please indicate that program in the "Special Instructions to the Seller" line.
Thank you very much for your donation!
