Arshay Cooper visit to Stockton & Sacramento
                    Oct 31, 2016 - Nov 5, 2016

Arshay Cooper is an award-winning author, motivational speaker, youth mentor, and a partner with several community outreach organizations. Arshay has cultivated a unique set of experiences that make him a much sought after speaker to audiences ranging from professional athletes to high school students. He is noted for inspiring and motivating every audience he encounters.

Raised by a single mother in a neighborhood surrounded by gangs, violence and drugs, Arshay witnessed many of his friends and family become a product of their environment. In 1997, Arshay joined the first all-black high school rowing team at Manley Career Academy and rejected the gang life. At that time, rowing was an almost entirely Caucasian sport.  According to the Chicago Tribune, Arshay and his teammates “shattered stereotypes about black athletes.”  The Manley crew rowing program was in a community where “you’re supposed to dunk basketballs, not coxswains.”  Without awareness, these young men began to change the face of US rowing and are part of the movement toward making sport inclusive.

After rising to crew team captain and graduating high school, Arshay shifted gears and served as an AmeriCorps volunteer for two years. In 2002, Arshay enrolled at the Le Cordon Bleu Cooking School. Over the next decade, he worked as a chef for hotels, restaurants, World Wrestling Entertainment, and Warner Brothers. He started his own catering company and catered for various professional athletes.

After years in the food industry, Arshay returned to his true passion of working in the inner city. He coached the Chicago Youth Rowing Club, worked as the program director in Victory Outreach's Midwest region, organized
rallies for the ‘Stop the Violence’ movement, founded programs to assist in keeping kids off the street, and completed over 5,000 community service hours.
As a national speaker, Arshay’s audiences have included public schools, graduations, national conventions, churches, community centers, non-profits, rallies, recovery homes, juvenile centers, sports teams, UFC fighters, and Former President Bill Clinton. Arshay and his work have been featured on the What TV Show, and in the Boynton Forum, The Tribe, UFC.COM, Palm Beach County Paper, Splash TV, East Coast MMA Show, MPR News, Cover Spy, USRowing, and Rowing News.
Arshay currently lives in New York City. His first book, a memoir titled ‘Suga Water’, was released in 2015 and won silver at the Benjamin Franklin book awards for best inspirational memoir.  A screen play is currently being written for a major motion picture by Mark Lipsky, producer of The Nutty Professor and other well-known movies.

He will be speaking at the dates and locations below:
