"Rowing the World"
International Rowers Come to California Delta
Delta Sculling Center in collaboration with Lake Merritt Rowing Club will host 6 international rowers from France, Norway, Canada and Seattle to do a destination row with us on the Delta over the April 12-13, 2014 weekend. Ruth Marr, the organizer of this event, recently started her adventure travel company, Rowing The World, about a year ago. It caters to all rowers, from recreational to competitive. The group of rowers coming in April will be rowing with 5 different rowing clubs, making their way from Santa Cruz up to various clubs in the Bay Area. Besides rowing in our beautiful California waterways, they will participate in sightseeing, wine tasting and enjoying local culinary delights. The Delta excursion starting out in Stockton will occur over two days - rowing from Buckley Cove to a point on the Delta where they will be able to spend the night and then row the 2nd day to another point. We are thrilled to be part of this international rowers’ adventure. If you would like more information about this event, you can contact Dorbea Cary at pacecary@msn.com.

Spend the Day Sculling Beautiful Pardee Reservoir with Us!

Sunday, October 20, 2013
Spend the day rowing in the foothills on beautiful Pardee Reservoir. Arrive Delta Sculling Center by 6:30 a.m. Load boats on top of cars and leave at 7:00 a.m. Drive approximately one hour to our destination. There are no low profile docks there so we will do a beach entry. (We can show you how if you've never done one! Bring an extra pair of shoes for "après sculling!") Once on the water, we will make a leisurely row up a finger of the reservoir (approximately 8 miles one way) to enjoy the rock formations and wildlife on the reservoir. After our row, we will have a picnic lunch at the reservoir and then return home. Return between 2:00 and 3:00 pm. Bring water shoes for a beach entry, sunscreen, a hat, water and a change of clothing. Also pack snacks and a lunch item to share.
We have extra space to car-top three single boats. You can borrow boats from Delta Sculling Center (fee is $25.00 for the day). Please share cost of gas with person who carries your boat. No fee to those who bring their own private sculls. Also, please expect an entry/parking fee charged by the park of approximately $10.00 per car.
